Confcooperative Piemonte Nord

Territorial division of the Confederation of Italian Cooperatives (Confcooperative), a national association of representation, assistance, protection and review of the cooperative movement.

Given the very heterogeneous nature of the users of institutional websites like this one, it is rare to find clients who dare to greenlight projects more sophisticated than the taste of the lowest common denominator. More than anything else, there is a tacit assent that pushes towards the unconscious approval of the most widespread method of communication, even if noticeably worse than others.

For example, if all institutional sites fill their drop-down menus with dozens of pages and sub-categories, why question their usability?

Websites for institutions that don't lag behind

The project for Confcooperative Piemonte Nord has instead questioned many of the most commonly adopted preconceptions, such as the use of a sidebar, the abuse of news carousels or the use of large bands of stock images as a header for pages. The basic idea is instead a single column of content, as wide as the screen, which produces interesting results in contrasting scale with its context.

The content is the protagonist, materialized in the use of huge typography. As this is an institution closely linked to the Piedmont and Turin area, it was decided to use local materials. A special version of Arial Grotesk was made by Alfatype, a foundry based in Turin, for Confcooperative Pimeonte Nord.

A series of modules are available on each page to organize the content: boxes, titles, information bands. Since all sizes are scaled proportionally to the size of the window, the website will look equally strong on any desktop and any phone.

Confcooperative Piemonte Nord is also the first site we have created with full support for the light / dark preferences indicated by the operating system. The website can be viewed at piemontenord.confcooperative.it
